Another instrument that we have been selling on our Amazon.com storefront that we will now be selling via the Adventurous Muse Online Store. The discounted price is about $2,200.
Fiddarci Standard Model Fiddles are instruments made specifically for Old-Time, Bluegrass, Irish and Scottish fiddling…not classical violin playing. They are in high demand, owing to their proper fiddle (rather than violin) setup, extremely powerful, bassy but balanced sound.
Shep Jones, Owner and Master Luthier at Fiddarci has outdone himself with the introduction of the new Professional Model. Whereas the “Standard” has a single “slab-cut” back (note: Stradivari commonly used this type of back), the “Professional” has a stunning highly-flamed two-piece back. The varnish recipe has been changed (a trade secret) for the new instrument, the top graduations have been tweaked, as has the bassbar to obtain even more beautiful power and responsiveness to bowing nuance; which is critical to Irish and Scottish style fiddlers.
As one might guess, the bridge is somewhat flatter than a standard violin and the strings are as close to the fingerboard as possible (with never a buzz). This instrument is the best fiddle money can buy, because it was designed and built to be a fiddle rather than setting up a regular violin for fiddling.
If a great performance fiddle that is also beautiful to look at is what you are looking for, this is it! It is a contest winner (assuming, of course, that you can play well and you use a professional level bow).
- Highly-flamed back
- New varnish recipe
- Balanced but very full-bodied tone
- Properly cut nut and bridge for fiddling
- Extremely responsive to the bow
